The Financial Conduct Authority is the conduct regulator for 56,000 financial services firms and financial markets in the UK and the prudential regulator for over 18,000 of those firms. The Government has published new regulations transposing the Fourth Money Laundering Directive into UK law known as “Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017” (known as Money Laundering Regulations 2017).
